This launch will largely follow suit and fall in line with previous launches, so it should all be familiar.

Key info - when can I buy it?

Right, cutting to it, pre-orders for the Genshin Impact PS5 controller start tomorrow at 10am local time.

That's 10am GMT in the UK, and 10am Eastern Time in the US, to clarify. Europe will also go at 10am local time (so one hour ahead of the UK).

It's the usual suspects this time, as this one is not a PlayStation Direct exclusive - huzzah!

Key info - How much is it?

In excellent news, the Genshin Impact PS5 controller will cost the same as previous limited edition pads. That is to say, it'll cost the following:

- $84.99 in the US

- £74.99 in the UK

What about that design, hey?

In terms of the specifics of the design of the controller, it really does encapsulate Genshin Impact wonderfully.

Sony say it "features an ethereal white, gold, and green palette adorned with arcane glyphs of a fantasy realm, including emblems of Traveler Twins Aether and Lumine and their trusted companion guide, Paimon."

The overall colorway and aesthetic, and even from a non-fan like me, is a beauty too, with a lovely mix of white, gold and green. Give it to me now!

What happened last time?

The last time we had a Limited Edition DualSense release - not that long ago to be frank - it was a relatively stable affair - which was surprising!

In the UK, however, HMV went early - the day early - so I'll be keeping an eye on them in particular.

In the US, every retailer seemed to play ball, and PS Direct was the first, best bet, and then everyone else followed suit.

Will there be stock problems?

Now this is a great question and thing to consider before the launch of pre-orders on any new bit of Sony hardware - especially if it's limited edition.

I'd like to think that even Sony would use the term limited edition accurately, so this does imply that there will be only a set amount going up for sale - and that might be it.

However, given it's not a PlayStation Direct exclusive, and multiple retailers will therefore be stocking the controller, I reckon we won't be faring too badly come tomorrow.

But does that mean you shouldn't pre-order?

I'm hopeful of stock levels, but I, naturally, can't guarantee anything, and it always pays to be cautious - and in this context that will likely mean committing to a pre-order to ensure you get your unit, rather than leaving it to chance when the pad releases into the wild.

Oh! More key info - when does it come out?

I realise I forgot this bit of key info among the rest: the release date.

And it is key because it's staggered a little. The Genshin Impact PS5 controller comes out first in Asia, on January 21, 2026, while it comes out in the rest of the world on February 25, 2026.

I love a limited edition DualSense! And even though I'm not a Genshin head, I still think I'm going to go for this one - it's design is a beaut.

Looks like Australian pre-orders are good to go

Australian pre-orders are well and truly underway with the likes of JB Hi-Fi and EB Games both having Genshin Impact PS5 controller pre-order listing pages live!

This is a good sign for everywhere else to follow today.

OK, we're now only an hour and a half from the Genshin Impact PS5 controller pre-orders opening in the UK! Start getting in position everybody!

A tip or two for PlayStation Direct

I've found that PlayStation Direct can be a bit iffy at the critical time with recent launches so have found a bit of a shotgun scatter approach is best if you're gunning for Sony's official storefront.

Definitely make sure you're logged in wherever you have it loaded up and have the right payment details.

You'll also want to make sure you have it on both desktop and mobile if possible just to cover your bases. And if you can on desktop, I've found having a back up log in on a different browser sometimes comes to the rescue too!

Scalpers trying already?

Somehow there are listings on eBay already for the Genshin Impact PS5 controller - even though pre-orders haven't started in the UK or US.

As always, our advice is to avoid these like the plague. And even more so given you've got a great chance of bagging your own controller in less than an hour (in the UK)!

I suppose I should add here that we can't really expect every controller to be available at every retailer. After all, Sony only stated that it'll be available at "direct.playstation.com as well as from select retailers".

It could be that for this one, Very might be the only other select UK retailer! My hunch is that we'll see some more soon, but that could be the case.

If you need a quick reminder, the Genshin Impact Limited Edition DualSense is going to release in January 2026 - so bear that in mind when you make your purchase. If you were planning on getting one of these as a last minute Christmas gift, then you should probably look at other designs instead.

A flurry of action in the US has led to an excellent situation of having four retailers offering pre-orders right now. What a time to be alive.
