TL;DR

  • Dell Plus laptops are great devices offering fast performance, durable build quality, and long battery life, backed by high-quality customer support
  • These notebooks are also very affordable and with Black Friday coming soon, some seriously tempting discounts are on the horizon
  • These Copilot+ laptops offer unique AI features other notebooks don't have, including powerful AI-assisted search, help on the creativity front, and more

You might be considering buying a new laptop, perhaps because your old device is becoming increasingly sluggish these days, or maybe it still runs Windows 10 – an operating system Microsoft ended support for on October 14th.

The good news for those mulling the purchase of a notebook is that now is a great time to make a move. But when it comes to that buying decision, there are multiple factors to consider. Such as should you buy an AI PC (also called a Copilot+ PC) like a Dell Plus laptop, rather than just a traditional (non-AI) laptop? And indeed, what's the difference between those devices anyway? Also, why should you choose Dell as your brand of notebook?

Let's dive into those points and the questions you may have, exploring why it really is a great time to upgrade to a Dell Plus laptop.

Is it worth buying a Copilot+ PC – or is this AI laptop thing all just hype?

Yes, it's worth purchasing an AI PC such as a Dell Plus laptop because these portables have reached a point where they've matured with some truly useful features – abilities which are exclusive to these Copilot+ PCs.

If you've read some comments online about how AI PCs might be all 'hype' and no substance, that kind of thinking harks back to when these machines first came to market, well over a year ago. Initially, there weren't that many AI features in Windows 11 because it was still early days for Microsoft – but that’s no longer the case. Indeed, Copilot+ PCs have come a long way and now have multiple unique features which are genuinely compelling.

There's a lot of AI functionality that boosts your creative powers on a Dell Plus laptop, for starters. That includes the ability for anyone to easily create images (from scratch) with the help of the Cocreator AI feature in Windows 11's Paint app, or revamp their photographs in the Photos app (restyling them, or jazzing up old or low-resolution pics).

AI can also considerably improve your video chatting experience by applying background blur effects, making automatic adjustments for lighting, and ensuring it looks like you're making eye contact with the person you are conversing with (looking into the camera directly, rather than at the screen).

More broadly, Copilot+ AI powers make Dell Plus laptops much easier to use. Search functionality has been supercharged by AI, so you can now use the Copilot app to perform a search in natural language. For example, you can query "find all my pictures of castles from last year" rather than having to try to remember file or folder names. The Recall feature is a whole new world of search that uses regularly taken screenshots to easily locate anything on your laptop.

On top of that, introductions such as the AI agent in Windows 11's Settings app make it easier for computing novices to find the options they need. Whatever you want to change in Windows 11, you can simply ask the AI about it – again in plainly spoken natural language – and it'll find the necessary settings for you (and maybe offer recommendations on what options to choose).

There are other AI features exclusive to Copilot+ PCs besides these, so there's real depth to the additional functionality on offer now – and a meaningful difference between an AI PC and a traditional notebook.

Okay, so AI laptops are worthwhile – but why choose a Dell Plus laptop in particular?

A Dell Plus laptop with Windows 11 Home is a wise purchase because these are well-built notebooks that are designed to last, they're affordable, they offer fast, cutting-edge hardware, have excellent battery life, and high-quality customer support.

Construction and build quality are strong suits with Dell notebooks, which are thoroughly tested to ensure their durability. Indeed, you can expect your Dell laptop to last for five years (or more). Just because they're durable doesn't mean Dell Plus laptops are chunky or heavy, though – far from it, they’re portable, slim and lightweight.

When it comes to the hardware under the hood, Dell equips these notebooks with powerful Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen AI processors, all of which have a performant on-board NPU for accelerating AI tasks – and ensuring AI workloads which are performed on-device happen fast and responsively.

Efficiency is also key with these Intel and AMD processors, and they tread lightly with power usage, meaning the battery life of Dell Plus laptops is impressive. Dell's testing of a Dell 14 Plus notebook with Ryzen AI 340 CPU (using Microsoft's Movies & TV app) indicates that it offers up to 22 hours on local video playback battery.1

When buying and configuring your laptop, Dell also provides help on how much storage space you might need (or system RAM), depending on how you'll use your notebook.

Dell Plus laptops are also affordable compared to many rival models, and the company backs up its hardware with a high standard of customer support and warranty coverage (with extended Dell Care warranty options).

Why is it a good time to buy a Dell Plus laptop right now?

The ongoing growth of AI features aside, pulling the trigger on a Dell Plus laptop now, or in the near future, could be a smart move due to the time of year and upcoming sales. Plus, anyone with a Windows 10 notebook might already be thinking of an upgrade, because Microsoft stopped supporting that OS on October 14, 2025.

If you’re not fully clued up on Windows 10 End of Life, the deal here is that Microsoft will now no longer provide security updates as of October 2025. So, if you can't upgrade to Windows 11 on your current laptop – due to some of the operating system's unusually steep system requirements – now might be an excellent time to switch to a new PC.

Dell Plus laptops are already affordable; in fact, they're not any costlier than a traditional (non-AI) notebook these days. What’s more, these devices are going to be even more temptingly priced when Dell brings in its Black Friday deals. That sale is happening soon enough and will come with some serious bargains on Dell's online stores in the US and UK. (Bear in mind that Dell will also price match any Black Friday discounts from other retailers selling Dell laptops, too).

In many ways, then, it's the perfect time to start thinking about buying a Dell Plus laptop, whether that's a more compact 14-inch model, a 16-inch notebook, or a 2-in-1 hybrid with a 360-degree hinge that allows for use as a tablet or laptop.
