The Nintendo Switch 2 only launched at the start of this year, so last year's best Nintendo deals are a little less helpful then they might usually be. That said, you can still find a few trends and see what to expect this upcoming Black Friday.

When will Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals be available?

The official date for Black Friday in Australia is on November 28 in 2025, directly following the US Thanksgiving holiday that falls on the fourth Thursday of November. However, just like 2024 and previous Black Fridays' we've experienced, we expect to see some early Black Friday deals creep up at least the week prior. For example, Amazon's Black Friday sale will officially begin on November 18, while brands like Samsung have already gotten started.

Black Friday is more than just a one-day sale these days, though. While the absolute best limited-time deals might be restricted to November 28, the majority of deals will continue over Black Friday weekend, ending with Cyber Monday on December 1.

Does the Nintendo Switch get cheaper on Black Friday?

We can't promise that there will be incredible deals on the Nintendo Switch come Black Friday. However, as one of the best gaming consoles currently available and approaching almost a year on the market, we think it's safe to expect that the Nintendo Switch 2 will at least drop a few dollars. We wouldn't get too excited about heavy discounts, though.

Does Nintendo do Black Friday?

Nintendo first-party games are very rarely discounted, but you're sure to find some hefty discounts on the Nintendo Switch eShop for a variety of third-party games.

However, if you're referring to discounts on the Nintendo Switch consoles, then you'll have to head to a retail store to get the best deals. Luckily, retailers like Amazon and JB Hi-Fi will be running deals on both Nintendo consoles and games during the Black Friday sales window, letting you grab the whole kit and caboodle for much more affordable prices.

What date is Black Friday 2025?

Every year, Black Friday lands on the fourth Friday of November – after Thanksgiving in the United States. In 2025, that means Black Friday is November 28, with Cyber Monday falling on December 1.

Will the Nintendo Switch 2 be discounted for Black Friday?

Along with every other video game console and a whole bunch of expensive items like TVs, the best phones, tablets, smartwatches and more, the Nintendo Switch and its many incredible games is almost certainly going to see some heavy discounts on Black Friday.

However, much like the new iPhones, we're unsure if the Nintendo Switch 2 will be significantly discounted this year, if at all. You can keep your fingers crossed, though.

Do games have Black Friday sales?

Yes! Amazon and JB Hi-Fi will be giving PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch games massive discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. The Nintendo eShop is also likely to have a number of deals, though we wouldn't expect first-party games like Super Mario Party Jamboree or The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to see a huge price-cut, if any. For those, you'll have to head to Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, EB Games or The Gamesmen.

Is the Nintendo Switch being discontinued?

Nintendo has confirmed that it will support the Nintendo Switch with games at least until the end of 2025, and we think that it will be supported with software and security updates for a lot longer than that. However, given the more-than 142 million sales, it makes sense for Nintendo to quickly switch focus onto their latest console and stop production.

We doubt the Nintendo Switch will be discontinued properly anytime soon.

Which Nintendo Switch is better?

While this question would usually be a case of personal preference, there is a very clear answer when it comes to the Nintendo Switch – the Nintendo Switch OLED is far and away the best version of the console. However, that might not make it the best choice for you.

The best Nintendo Switch in 2025 has four choices – the original, the OLED, the Lite and the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite being the best version of the Switch, the OLED is not the best for most people – that still goes to the original, and if you're looking for the cheapest way to play the best Nintendo games or simply only want to play handheld, the Nintendo Switch Lite is for you.

The OLED is awesome and it's the best option for those looking for a premium experience without spending it. You can read the key information above for a breakdown of what upgrades the Nintendo Switch 2 brings, though.

Which game console is best for a 5-year-old?

If you're looking to grab your young child a game console this Christmas, then the Nintendo Switch is easily the best option. Much of Nintendo's library of games leans towards younger audiences, and many of them are easier to learn than that of Xbox or PlayStation. Many Switch games also focus on couch co-op – which is dying a slow death on other consoles – so you can play with them, and its hybrid nature means your child can play at home and take it on the go.

Is it worth getting the Nintendo Switch OLED?

The AU$80 difference between the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED makes the original the easier to recommend for most people, but there is no doubting that the Nintendo Switch OLED is worth the extra cost – especially if you can grab it on a deal for around AU$450 or less during the Black Friday sales period.

The OLED Switch doesn't offer a 1080p screen or 4K output when docked to your TV – we're hoping the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring Nintendo into the current generation – but games are still considerably prettier in both modes than on the regular Switch. However, if you're really looking for the best Nintendo gaming experience, it might be worth paying extra for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals: key info

The Nintendo Switch 2 is shaping up to be a massive leap from the original 2017 console. The first thing you'll notice is the huge 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen, which is not only larger than the Switch OLED but also much smoother with its 120Hz refresh rate.

But the upgrades go far beyond the display. The Joy-Cons now cleverly snap on magnetically. While they look familiar, they're packing new features: an extra trigger on the back, a quick-access "Game Chat" button on the front, and the ability to turn into a mouse when you need one. As expected, you can still dock the console to play on your TV.

Inside, the Switch 2 boasts a new custom Nvidia chip that provides a massive performance boost—reportedly up to 10 times the graphical power of the original. This allows it to run high-end features like DLSS and ray tracing for demanding games.

You'll also get a healthy 256GB of storage right out of the box (expandable up to 1TB) and a 5,220mAh battery. Best of all, it's backward compatible with most of your Switch games (cartridges included), and some titles will even get patches to look and run better on the new hardware.
